--> Couples Haven at Les Fourneaux

Somewhere quiet and special just for two people

Les Fourneaux, 50880, Pont Hebert, Manche, France - christine.sinclair@lesfourneaux.co.uk

The Couples Haven is a faithfully restored 19th century stone cidre barn that is set up exclusively for couples, situated in an acre of gardens and pond. Located five minutes from Pont Hebert in the National park, with a small good supermarket, petrol station plus boulangerie and charcuterie well worth visiting. Consistently rated 5 Star over the last six seasons we provide high quality linen and cleaning to make sure you have a good stay with us. HD television and UK and European satellite is available with WIFI and DVD library included.

Ten minutes by car is the prefecture capital of St Lo with its mediaeval city wall, restaurants and bars at the Plage Vert (green beach) by the river Vire. We have a few bicycles available for a pleasant ride into St. Lo along the river on a flat path, and if you bring your own, they can be kept safe under cover opposite the cottage. Parking is outside the cottage is on a gravel drive, overlooking the gardens and well away from the road so quiet and safe

From the photographs in the church you can gauge how badly damaged the town was during the war, being restored finally in the 1960’s to something of its former glory. The Saturday morning market is worth a visit if you can, and there are other markets and brocantes in surrounding towns such as Coutance, Carentan, Bayeux and Caen. All of this is accessible from the motorway junction five minutes form the cottage, taking you to Caen or Cherbourg ferries, Caen airport or all the say to Paris, Belgium and beyond.

In terms of sea, the wartime beaches to the east are about thirty minutes’ drive, with a stunning fifty kilometres of unspoilt sand beaches to the west about forty-five minutes away. St Michaels Mount, France’s most visited attraction is an hour on the motorway. Around Agon-Coutainville are a number of formal and (very) informal beach side restaurants and bars. The sunsets out over the Atlantic are a photographers’ dream with nothing better than sitting with a coffee or a wine relaxing with the sheer lack of people this location, watching the birds and wildlife.

Alternatively, the cottage has a private patio that looks onto the gardens where you can enjoy the space or have your meals, whatever works for you.

We can accomodate three though two is best. For non mobile infants we can provide cot, chair and similar so you dont have to bring it with you. The cottage layout has a spiral staircase and unsuitable for wheelchair users.

You can book easly through the major online accomodation sites, search for Les Fourneaux in St Lo. If you want to book a year or more in advance then please contact us direct, and we only use your personal information for booking purposes.

There is no nicer place to tuck away quietly together than our cottage and we look forward to sharing it with you.

1890s Cider Barn

A faithfully converted barn-store for the original farm cider and calvados

Quiet gardens

Park your car outside the door and wander down to about half a hectare of gardens and pond surrounding the cottage and its secluded patio. From sparrows and swift to hawks and kites, they all live in the surrounding woods and fields.

Your own world

Your hosts are on site for anything you may need, yet the gardens are secluded for a little sun worship or a BBQ. Walk a few metres further under the willow tree and you are away from everything.

Surrounded by farmland

Set back from the road and 2km from the RN174 junction 8, there is fast access to the main roads to beaches, Mont St. Michel and more. The nearby town of Pont Hebert with decent supermarket, petrol station and a boulangerie to die for means you don't need to go far for much of anything.
