A rural cottage in the heart of

Lower Normandy just for couples

 Cidre Barn

The Cidre Barn is a newly restored 1890's oak and stone barn, originally for storing farm cider and calvados, located near St. Lo.  With over an acre of guest's garden and pond to enjoy, it is a relaxed, well located setting to visit from, or just recharge your batteries.

With a log fire plus HD Freesat TV, WIFI and a contemporary galley kitchen; The Cidre Barn is a two-level blend of traditional building with warm and relaxed furnishings.

Ken and Chris welcome couples to Pont Hébert in Lower Normandy for beaches, countryside and history.  We're cyclist and motorbike friendly, or if just want to watch the local màrais wildlife, we're happy to oblige.

The gardens and accommodation are not suited for toddlers and children though we can accommodate infants.

Less than an hour from some of the best and quietest beaches in Europe, the Cidre Barn combines scenery with the history for a relaxed yet interesting time away.

and nearby is

St. Lo, the capital of La Manche, is less than 10 minutes drive away and provides a wonderful Saturday market within its historic city walls, with plenty of shops, bars and restaurants. It also boasts one of the biggest horse studs in Europe that houses within its beautiful buildings, many of France's most magnificent breeding stallions. It is open to the public for tours as well as equestrian activities including show jumping, horse ball and stallion presentations every Thursday throughout August.

Central and simple

Your stay at The Cidre Barn could be busy with local trips or just relaxing in the private garden under the willow tree by our small lake. Direct access from the lake garden will take you onto an easy walking route to stroll off your barbecue, or just enjoy a ‘glass or two’ on your veranda. Whatever you decide to do on your holiday, Normandy’s charm will entice you back for more.

A tasteful relaxed place to stay

The Cidre Barn, while easily accessible, nestles perfectly in the gentle rolling hills of Basse Normandy. Only 1km away is our local small town of Pont Hébert, which can provide all your necessities, and is the ‘gateway’ to the river Vire both north and south. The enchanting ‘Chemin de Halage’ pathway beside the Vire stretches for nearly 70kms. This track follows the river through outstanding Normandy scenery to be enjoyed by any cyclist or walker.

Just 1km north of The Cidre Barn is direct access to all the main tourist routes such as the Mont St. Michel (1hr), Bayeaux and its tapestry (45minutes)
or Utah and Omaha D-Day beaches (25mins) . The high speed SNCF station to Paris is only 15mins away at Lison Gare, and we're happy to collect you if required. Any beach you visit either East or West is beautifully unspoiled, clean, and can be easily accessed via traffic free roads.
